Ahmedabad SOG Arrests 22-Year-Old With MD Drug Worth ₹19.94 Lakh On Vatva-Isanpur Road

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has arrested a 22-year-old man allegedly carrying 199.45 grams of MD drug worth around ₹19.94 lakh on Vatva-Isanpur Road, police said on Monday.

The accused has been identified as Shakilkhan Atyubkhan Pathan, a resident of Islamnagar village in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district.

Accused Intercepted Near Gebanshah Pir Dargah

According to SOG officials, the arrest followed specific intelligence about the movement of narcotic substances in the area. A team kept watch on a public road near the entrance of Gebanshah Pir Dargah on Vatva-Isanpur Road.

Pathan was intercepted during the operation and police allegedly recovered MD from his possession.

The seized substance weighed 199 grams and 45 milligrams and was valued at approximately ₹19.94 lakh, officials said. Other items recovered during the operation took the total value of the seized property to around ₹20.04 lakh.

Probe Into Drug Supply Network Underway

A case has been registered at the concerned police station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Investigators are now probing the alleged source of the MD, its intended recipient and the purpose of its transportation to Ahmedabad.

Police are also examining whether Pathan was allegedly working as part of a wider drug trafficking network operating between Madhya Pradesh and Ahmedabad.

The arrest was made as part of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch SOG’s ongoing drive against the illegal sale, transportation and storage of narcotic substances in the city.
