Women, Children to Get Free Entry at Riverfront, Kankaria During Gauri and Jaya Parvati Vrat

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced special arrangements for women and girls observing Gauri Vrat and Jaya Parvati Vrat, allowing free entry to Sabarmati Riverfront gardens and Kankaria Lakefront during extended night hours.

Riverfront gardens to remain open till midnight for Gauri Vrat

On Wednesday, all Sabarmati Riverfront gardens—except Biodiversity Park and Atal Bridge—will remain open until 12 midnight for women observing Gauri Vrat.

The gardens will be closed for regular visitors at 10 pm. After that, only women observing the vrat, girls and accompanying young children will be allowed free entry. Boys aged above 12 years and all men will not be permitted to enter during this period.

Extended hours for Jaya Parvati Vrat

For Jaya Parvati Vrat on Friday, the Riverfront gardens will remain open from 10 pm until 3 am on Saturday.

During these hours, women observing the fast, girls and accompanying children will be granted free entry, while men and boys above 12 years of age will not be allowed inside.

Free entry at Kankaria Lakefront

AMC has also announced free entry to Kankaria Lakefront for women and children observing the vrat during the special timings.

Security arrangements and cultural programme

To ensure the safety of women and girls, AMC has deployed adequate numbers of male and female security personnel at all participating gardens.

In addition, a special garba and cultural programme has been organised for women and girls at Subhash Bridge Garden on the eastern side of the Sabarmati Riverfront during Jaya Parvati Vrat.

The civic body has appealed to all women and girls observing the fast to make use of the special facilities.
