Six Booked for Alleged Kidnap Bid, Assault and Caste Abuse in Ahmedabad's Satellite

Six people have been booked for allegedly attempting to abduct a 20-year-old woman, assaulting her family members and hurling caste-based abuses during a late-night altercation in Ahmedabad's Satellite area, police said.

The case was registered by Satellite Police on Tuesday based on a complaint lodged by Nancy Rathod (20), a resident of Jodhpur village. The FIR invokes relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as well as the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Woman alleges attempt to force her into car

According to the complaint, the incident took place at around 9.30 pm on July 4, when the complainant stepped out of her residence.

She alleged that a four-wheeler stopped near her residential block and its occupants began abusing her, using caste-related slurs and threatening her.

The complaint alleges that Vijay Parmar caught hold of her hand and attempted to force her into the vehicle, while Rahul Parmar, Vishal Parmar and Krishna Parmar allegedly assisted in dragging her towards the car despite her resistance.

Family allegedly assaulted after intervening

Hearing her cries for help, the complainant's father Narendrabhai Rathod, mother Ashaben and elder sister Sweta rushed outside to intervene.

According to the complaint, Vijay Parmar allegedly picked up a stick and assaulted Narendrabhai, causing an injury to the second finger of his left hand while he tried to protect himself.

The FIR further alleges that Manshi Parmar and Vidyaben Parmar later joined the altercation. Vidyaben allegedly slapped the complainant, while Manshi allegedly assaulted members of the family with a stick and pulled the complainant's mother's hair.

Case registered under BNS and SC/ST Act

The alleged assault ended after local residents gathered at the spot and intervened.

The complainant told police that the family did not immediately approach the authorities because they had allegedly been threatened by the accused.

Based on the complaint, Satellite Police have registered an FIR against Vijay Parmar, Rahul Parmar, Vishal Parmar, Krishna Parmar, Manshi Parmar and Vidyaben Parmar under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Police said statements of the complainant, her family members and other witnesses are being recorded as part of the investigation.

Further investigation is underway.
