Over 100 Bighas of Land Deal in Sanand Under Scanner

A complaint has alleged that more than 100 bighas of agricultural land in Sanand, Ahmedabad district, were purchased using a fraudulent farmer certificate issued in the name of Manjit Singh Vasu, prompting demands to cancel his farmer-landholder status and take action against those responsible for issuing the document.

Submitted by complainant Mayur Vaghela, the representation claims that despite findings that the certificate was bogus, authorities have neither cancelled it nor initiated proceedings to transfer the land to the government. It also alleges that some officials in the Sanand administration are shielding the matter.

Complaint Alleges Fake Certificate Used to Buy Agricultural Land

The complaint alleges that Manjit Singh Vasu acquired more than 2.5 lakh square yards of agricultural land in the Sanand area after obtaining a certificate identifying him as a farmer and landholder of Varanu village in Rapar taluka of Kutch district.

According to the representation, the certificate enabled Vasu to purchase more than 100 bighas of agricultural land. It further contends that if his farmer-landholder status is cancelled, the land purchased in his name could be transferred to the government under the applicable provisions.

Rapar Order Finds No Proof of Farmer Status

The representation cites proceedings before the Rapar Mamlatdar and the Agricultural Lands Tribunal (ALT), alleging that Manjit Singh Jagat Singh Vasu manipulated land records to create evidence of ownership in Varanu village.

According to the complaint, in an order dated March 30, 2026, the Rapar Mamlatdar held that Satvinder Singh Vasu, the legal heir of Manjit Singh Vasu, failed to prove that Manjit Singh Vasu was a legitimate farmer in Gujarat.

The order also directed that Survey No. 25/2 in Varanu village be vested with the government after the claim of farmer-landholder status could not be proved, the representation states.

Legal Heir Moves to Transfer Sanand Land

The complaint alleges that following Manjit Singh Vasu's death, Satvinder Singh Vasu has initiated the process of transferring the Sanand land into his own name despite the findings recorded in the Rapar proceedings.

Farmer Certificate Yet to Be Cancelled

Revenue records cited in the representation show that Sanand Prant Officer Jagdish Jesangbhai Patel issued a farmer certificate to Manjit Singh Jagat Singh Vasu on September 9, 2021, at 11.53 am. The certificate stated that it would remain valid unless there was a subsequent change in the land records.

The complaint alleges that the certificate was used to purchase land bearing Survey Block No. 1773 in Sanand and remains valid despite complaints that it was issued using allegedly manipulated land records.

The representation also argues that the lack of action against allegedly forged farmer certificates could encourage similar attempts to illegally acquire agricultural land.
