CM Bhupendra Patel Pulls Up AMC Over Flood Response, Orders Immediate Action to Clear Waterlogging

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday expressed strong displeasure over the Amdavad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) handling of widespread waterlogging following heavy rainfall, directing officials to deliver immediate results and expedite relief measures across the city.

CM voices displeasure during Bopal visit

The Chief Minister visited the Bopal area, one of the worst-affected localities, where water had still not receded despite continuous efforts by civic authorities. Patel was seen taking a stern view of the situation as residents continued to grapple with inundated roads and waterlogged neighbourhoods.

Emergency meeting with top civic officials

Following the site visit, Patel chaired an urgent review meeting at the AMC South West Zone office with senior civic officials and public representatives.

The meeting was attended by the AMC Commissioner, Mayor, Ahmedabad Police Commissioner, and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Urban Development

Department.

'No negligence will be tolerated'

During the meeting, the Chief Minister reportedly expressed strong dissatisfaction with AMC's response to the flooding and pulled up officials over the pace of relief and drainage operations.

He made it clear that no negligence in rainwater drainage or relief work would be tolerated and instructed the civic administration to undertake water evacuation across all affected areas on a war footing.

Patel directed officials to ensure that waterlogging is cleared at the earliest and asked the administration to accelerate relief measures to minimise inconvenience to residents.
