AMC Plans to Earn Over ₹1,207 Cr by Auctioning 16 Plots Across Ahmedabad

In a bid to accelerate infrastructure development across the city, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has proposed auctioning 16 residential and commercial land plots to generate revenue of more than ₹1,207 crore. A detailed proposal seeking approval for the sale has been placed before the Standing Committee.

Prime land identified for auction

Most of the plots earmarked for sale are located in some of Ahmedabad's well-developed western localities, including Ambli, Gota, Sola, Jagatpur, Thaltej and Ranip. The list also includes a key plot in Hanspura in the city's North Zone.

The largest parcel proposed for auction is Plot No. 96 in TP Scheme 109 (Muthiya-Hanspura-Bilasia). Spread across 41,843 square metres and reserved for residential use, the plot has been assigned an upset price of ₹71,000 per square metre. The sale of this single plot is expected to fetch the civic body more than ₹296 crore.

Price committee clears 16 plots

The upset prices were finalised by AUDA's Price Fixing Committee during its meeting held on June 12. The committee reviewed the valuation of 20 AMC-owned plots, approving the base prices for 16 of them while keeping the valuation of the remaining four plots pending.

Revenue to fund civic infrastructure

The revenue generated from the auction of TP Scheme residential and commercial plots will be utilised for infrastructure development across Ahmedabad. According to the proposal, the funds will be used to create and upgrade essential civic amenities, including drinking water supply, sewerage networks, roads, streetlights, stormwater drainage, gardens, public libraries, civic centres and fire stations.

Some plots under encroachment

The proposal also notes that some of the plots identified for auction are currently under encroachment. The civic body is expected to clear these encroachments before proceeding with the auction process.
