A 22-year-old man from Ahmedabad has alleged that an unidentified person used a fake Instagram account to send him abusive messages and death threats while concealing their identity. Following his complaint, the Ranip Police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation.

According to the police, Hitendrasinh Rajeshkumar Gohil, a resident of Ranip who works as a car rental executive with a private company, received a follow request on Instagram from an account with the username "anglepriya1155" on May 27, 2026.

Hitendrasinh stated that he accepted the request believing it to be genuine. Soon afterwards, he received a greeting message from the account and asked the sender to identify themselves. However, the user allegedly refused to reveal their identity.

Instead, the account holder allegedly began sending abusive messages and threatening him with physical violence. According to the complaint, the sender warned him to "think before stepping out of the house" and claimed to know where he lived, further threatening to assault him if they found him.

Police said the complainant became frightened after receiving the messages. He copied the Instagram profile link and submitted an online complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.

Hitendrasinh later travelled to his native village in Rajasthan before approaching the Ranip Police and seeking legal action against the unidentified account holder. He also submitted screenshots of the alleged abusive and threatening messages as part of the complaint.

Based on the complaint, the Ranip Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Police officials said efforts are underway to identify the person operating the Instagram account using digital evidence and platform records. The allegations are under investigation, and no arrests have been made so far.
