Ahmedabad College Student Alleges Sexual Assault, Blackmail; Accuses Former Classmate Of Taking ₹14.39 Lakh Gold

A 20-year-old college student has accused her former classmate of repeatedly sexually assaulting her on the promise of marriage, threatening to circulate intimate photographs and videos, and allegedly taking gold jewellery worth around ₹14.39 lakh from her and her family members.

The accused, identified as Hardik Ashokbhai Panchal of Amraiwadi, was known to the complainant from university, where the two were classmates. Nikol police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the allegations.

Relationship Allegedly Turned Into Threats

According to the complaint, the woman and Panchal became friends while studying at the same university and entered into a relationship in December 2025.

The woman alleged that Panchal repeatedly assured her that their families knew about the relationship and that the two would eventually get married.

She alleged that on March 25, 2026, Panchal took her to a hotel near Nikol, where he sexually assaulted her. She further alleged that similar incidents subsequently took place at hotels near K P Heights and opposite Shalby Hospital.

According to the complaint, Panchal allegedly continued to promise marriage during this period.

Alleged Threat To Circulate Private Photos

The complainant further alleged that Panchal later told her that his father, who was involved in the textile business, had suffered financial losses and sought money from her.

When she allegedly refused to provide financial assistance, Panchal threatened to circulate intimate photographs and videos of her that he allegedly possessed, according to the complaint.

The woman alleged that the threat was subsequently used to obtain valuables from her and her family.

₹14.39 Lakh Jewellery Allegedly Taken

Between June 7 and August 12, Panchal allegedly obtained gold ornaments weighing 144.51 grams, with a stated value of around ₹14.39 lakh.

The jewellery allegedly belonged not only to the complainant but also to her sisters, father and mother.

According to the complaint, Panchal allegedly assured the woman that he would return the ornaments or replace them with jewellery of the same design.

The woman alleged that the jewellery was later sold at Varsha Gold Jewellers and Harsh Jewellers in Nikol.

Family Discovered Jewellery Was Missing

The matter came to light after the complainant's elder sister checked the family's locker and found that several ornaments were missing.

The complainant then allegedly disclosed her relationship with Panchal and told her family that she had handed over the jewellery to him.

The family subsequently contacted Panchal and his parents, but the complainant alleged that no satisfactory response was received.

She later approached the police along with her sister and other family members.

Nikol Police Begin Investigation

Nikol police have registered a case based on the woman's allegations and are investigating the claims of sexual assault, criminal intimidation and the alleged misappropriation and sale of the jewellery.

Investigators are expected to examine the alleged hotel visits, communications between the two, the jewellery transactions and other evidence relevant to the complaint.
