Gujarat man seeks divorce over wife’s stray dog obsession, says stress led to erectile dysfunction, diabetes

A 41-year-old man has moved Gujarat High Court seeking divorce from her wife on the ground of her love for stray dogs which caused him stress and led to erectile dysfunction. The man has challenged the Vadodara family order before the Gujarat High Court. The couple tied the knot in 2006.
In his appeal, the husband alleges that marital discord began when his wife brought home a stray dog despite his objections. She later introduced more strays, forcing him to cook, clean, and feed them. In one incident, a dog bit him. Despite repeated pleas, she refused to remove the animals.
The situation escalated after she joined an animal welfare group and began filing complaints against others for alleged animal abuse—acts the husband claims were used to intimidate him. He told the court that constant stress triggered diabetes and erectile dysfunction conditions.
Adding to his claims of cruelty, the husband recounted a shocking birthday ‘prank’ orchestrated by his wife. A radio jockey called him live on air, posing as Jenny—a woman claiming to be his secret lover. The broadcast implied infidelity, leaving him publicly humiliated. His wife later revealed it was an April Fool’s joke but allegedly followed it up with threats to file false dowry harassment cases if he ever left
In an ongoing matrimonial dispute, the husband's counsel informed the court that the wife is demanding a substantial settlement of ₹2 crore, while the husband is willing to pay only ₹15 lakh, citing his job profile as the basis for the limited offer. Countering the claim, the wife's counsel argued that the husband has failed to substantiate allegations of cruelty against her. He further highlighted the husband's job-related income, personal properties, and assets registered in the names of his family members, asserting that the husband is capable of offering a more reasonable amount. The court has deferred the matter for further consideration and scheduled the next hearing on December 1.i
