The Indian boxing contingent has reportedly run into serious administrative hurdles ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Shortly after arriving from a preparatory training camp in Belfast, several athletes and coaches discovered that nearly half of their baggage was left behind. The missing luggage includes vital training gear and the official ceremonial outfits intended for the opening ceremony.

Sources close to the 22-member squad revealed that the aircraft operating the short flight from Belfast to Glasgow was reportedly too small to accommodate the full volume of luggage. As a result, critical items were sidelined right as the final stage of preparation was supposed to begin.

Boxers and Coaches Left Stranded Without Essential Kits

Among those directly affected are reigning world champion Jasmine Lamboria (57kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg), Parveen Hooda (65kg), Jadumani Singh (55kg), and Kapil Pokhariya (90kg). Men’s head coach C. Kuttappa is also among the contingent members whose luggage failed to reach Scotland as per reports.

Frustration is running high within the camp, particularly because this is not an isolated incident. Earlier this month, the team encountered an identical baggage delay when traveling from Doha to Belfast. Repeating these administrative errors just days before the competitive bouts throw off the athletes' routines during critical recovery and weight-management windows.

Accommodation Mishaps and Looming Competition Deadlines

Adding to the coordination friction, the women’s team coach Mandakani Chanu has reportedly not been accommodated in the same hotel as the boxing team. Support staff and athletes are currently forced to navigate split locations, creating unnecessary logistical barriers between the boxers and their primary tactical guidance.

With the boxing events set to commence on Friday, team officials are scrambling to ensure all missing gear arrives in Glasgow before ring action starts.
