Two Brothers Stabbed in Footpath Vending Dispute Near Ahmedabad's ISKCON Crossroads; Three Booked

A dispute over footpath vending space near ISKCON Crossroads in Ahmedabad's Satellite area turned violent on Monday night, leaving two brothers with stab injuries. Satellite Police have registered an FIR against three men accused of attacking the victims with a sharp weapon following an argument over roadside vending space.

Clash Erupts Over Vending Space

The incident took place at around 10 pm on July 20 on the footpath connecting Ramdevnagar to ISKCON Crossroads.

According to the FIR, the complaint was filed by 60-year-old Motiben Punambhai Bhati, a resident of Ramdevnagar village. She alleged that her sons were assaulted after a confrontation with three street vendors over the spot where they conduct their businesses.

Her elder son, Sanjay Bhati, runs a roadside stall selling hats, spectacles and belts at the location.

Argument Escalates Into Stabbing

Police said the dispute began when Nikul Mohanbhai Rathod, Ravi Jethabhai Rathod and Shankar Girdharbhai Rathod, who were allegedly selling T-shirts nearby, became involved in an argument with the Bhati family over the vending space.

According to the complaint, the verbal exchange soon turned violent. When Motiben's younger son, Hitesh Bhati, objected to the alleged abuse, Nikul Rathod allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon, causing injuries to his nose.

As Sanjay Bhati stepped in to intervene, Ravi Rathod allegedly stabbed him on his left hand.

Motiben also alleged that the three accused assaulted her with sticks and threatened to kill the family before fleeing the scene. Local residents reportedly intervened and dispersed the attackers.

Victims Shifted to Hospital

Both injured brothers were taken to Sola Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance.

Hitesh Bhati reportedly received stitches for injuries to his nose, while Sanjay Bhati underwent treatment for injuries to his left hand. Both were undergoing medical treatment when the complaint was lodged.

FIR Registered, Investigation Underway

Based on Motiben Bhati's statement, Satellite Police have registered a case against Nikul Mohanbhai Rathod, Ravi Jethabhai Rathod and Shankar Girdharbhai Rathod, all residents of Ramdevnagar village.

The FIR includes charges of assault, criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing injuries with a sharp weapon.

Police are investigating the sequence of events that led to the clash. Officers are recording statements of eyewitnesses and examining evidence from the spot as part of the investigation.
