Many people believe that electric vehicles (EVs) are better for the environment than traditional petrol and diesel cars (internal combustion-IC engine cars) because they emit fewer greenhouse gases. However, a recent study by emissions analytics has debunked this notion.

The study claimed that electric vehicles emit 1,850 times more particle pollution than petrol- and diesel-powered cars.

The study, published in The Wall Street Journal, focuses on the problem of particle pollution caused by brakes and tyres in both electric and IC engine-powered cars.

Moreover, the study highlights that EVs also put more weight on brakes and tyres, resulting in quicker wear and tear and potentially causing harm.

The report featured examples of the Tesla Model Y and Ford F-150 Lightning. Both of their batteries weigh around 1,800 pounds.

The study claims that electric vehicles with batteries weighing about half a tonne could emit up to 400 times more pollution than IC engine cars due to the emissions.
