EV Charging Stations - Ahmedabad

The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is planning to set up 81 more electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in the city to tackle the growing air pollution and promote the use of EVs.

This move comes after the AMC recently made 12 electric vehicle charging stations operational at different locations under the EV policy.

To set up the additional charging stations, the AMC has invited bids under the Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

The charging stations will be built on a public-private partnership basis, and the AMC will charge rent for the space as per its jantri (land valuation) rates.

The rent will be increased by 10% every year.

Initially, the AMC will charge rent at 5% of the jantri rate per square metre for the space. This amount will have to be paid in advance.

It is noteworthy that 53 charging stations have been approved under the second phase of FAME (faster adoption and manufacturing electric vehicles) India in Gujarat, as per the information presented to the Lok Sabha during the budget session.

Gujarat has registered an EV sales hike of 28% in a year, as the numbers hiked from 68,997 in 2022 to 88,619 in 2023.
