In another tragic death of an Indian abroad, a student residing in Canada’s Vancouver has reportedly been shot, as per media reports on Apr 12.

24-year-old Chirag Antil, who moved to Canada in September 2022, was pursuing a master’s of business administration (MBA) degree.

His brother, Romit Antil, who resides in Haryana’s Sonipat, was informed of this untimely death by Chirag’s roommate and later by the Vancouver police department (VPD) via email.

The email stated that Chirag was murdered at “approximately 11 p.m. in the area of the 200 block of East 55th Avenue.” It further added that the police department is “early in their investigation” and hasn’t established who was behind this murder, as per reports.

It stated that an autopsy would be conducted next week, after which the family could “make arrangements to transport him home to India.”

In a post on X, the Congress students’ wing national students’ union of India chief Varun Choudhary requested aid for Chirag’s family, tagging the ministry of external affairs (MEA).

Meanwhile, Chirag’s family is seeking help through an online fundraiser aiming to raise CA$40,000 (₹24.27 lakh).
