Indian-origin engineer Pavan Davuluri to head Microsoft Windows

IIT Madras alumnus Pavan Davuluri has been named the new chief of Microsoft Windows and Surface. He will take the charge over from Panos Panay, who moved on to Amazon.
Davuluri, a 23-year veteran at Microsoft, has worked in PC and Xbox hardware, Surface, Windows and Silicon, has led the production team and worked on the software and hardware playbooks.
Who is Pavan Davuluri?
Having completed his studies at IIT Madras, Davuluri went to the University of Maryland in the US where he began his career at Microsoft as a reliability component manager and rose through the ranks to become corporate vice president (VP) for Windows and silicon and system integration in 2021.
He assumed the role of corporate VP for Windows+ Devices last year.
The news of Davuluri’s appointment came from an internal memo from Microsoft’s experience and device head Rajesh Jha. The memo outlines the new structure at Microsoft, focusing on the holistic approach to building silicon, systems, experiences and devices spanning Windows clients and the cloud for today's AI era.
