An Indian-origin mother has been charged with the murder of her 10-year-old daughter in the United Kingdom’s West Midlands near Birmingham on Mar 6, state British media reports.

These charges have been levied on 33-year-old Jaskirat Kaur aka Jasmine Kang after she appeared before the Wolverhampton Magistrates’ court, the reports added.

The case unravelled after her daughter, Shay Kang, was reportedly found dead at their residence in a severely injured state in the county’s Rowley Regis town on Mar 4.

Following which, Jaskirat faced arrest the same day. Sandwell police said, “We’ve arrested a woman on suspicion of murder after a ten-year-old girl was discovered dead in Rowley Regis today. We found the child with injuries at an address in Robin Close at around 12.10 pm (GMT). She was tragically confirmed dead at the scene.”

Jaskirat is currently in  police custody, and is to appear at the Wolverhampton Crown Court today.

Locals poured in their condolences over Shay’s unfortunate demise. She went to a local primary school, where the school staff described her as “bright and fun-loving”, state local media reports.

A fundraiser has also been reportedly set up to raise money for her funeral.
