Four Indians die by drowning in Australia’s Phillip Island

Four Indian-origin people died by drowning at an unknown beach on Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia, according to a tweet from the Indian High Commission in Canberra. The deceased included three women and a man.

“Heartbreaking tragedy in Australia,” read the high commission’s tweet on X. The tweet also informed that a team from the high commission is in touch with friends of the deceased for all necessary assistance, along with mentioning the X handles of the minister of external affairs, S Jaishankar; and his ministry.

According to reports, an emergency call was received at around 3.30 a.m. on Jan 24, alerting the authorities of the drowning of four people. A rescue team was sent to the spot and took out the bodies of four people, three women and a man.

They were given CPR after being pulled out of the water, however, none of them could be saved. According to reports, two deceased women were in their 20s and one woman was in her 40s.
