Canada man blames ‘international students’ for trash on snow, sparks row
A Canadian man shared a video of trash and piles of garbage bags on X which led to a debate as Indian international students were blamed for ‘destroying Canada’.
The video shared on X showed a snow-covered area marred by an unsightly mess of trash scattered across the ground. A man was seen claiming in the video that the litter was left behind by “international students” and suggests that such individuals should be deported for their irresponsible behaviour.
“Indian International Students destroying communities across Canada,” was written in the video caption. The location disclosed in the video was Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
“I moved from northern Ontario- a few hours from the Sault- this is everywhere. We have become a slum,” a user commented.
Another user said, “Surprised? Take one look at Delhi.”
The X post saw an alarming number of generalised comments, demeaning India and other ‘third world countries’.
In 2023, the vast majority (97.6%) of Canada’s population growth came from “international migration” (both permanent and temporary immigration) and the remaining portion (2.4%) came from natural increase, according to figures of StanCan.
