Siya Goyal Took ₹1 Crore For Wedding Shopping, Gave It To Chetan: Sources

Fresh details have emerged in the investigation into the murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, with police sources alleging that his fiancée, Siya Goyal, took nearly ₹1 crore from him in the name of wedding shopping before transferring the money to her alleged lover and co-accused, Chetan Chaudhary. Investigators believe the money transfer was part of the alleged conspiracy to murder Agarwal.

₹1 crore allegedly transferred to Chetan

According to police sources, Goyal had asked Agarwal for nearly ₹1 crore, claiming it was needed for wedding preparations and related expenses. Investigators allege that instead of using the money for the wedding, she handed the entire amount to Chaudhary to help him build his career and improve his financial condition.

Police claim Chaudhary had told Goyal he needed around three years to become financially stable. The two allegedly planned that after Agarwal’s death, Goyal would remain unmarried during that period to avoid suspicion before eventually marrying Chaudhary.

Investigators uncover alleged murder plan

The investigation has also revealed details of how the alleged murder was carried out. According to officials, Goyal and Chaudhary had agreed on a pre-decided signal before the attack. Police allege Goyal was instructed to sit down on the pretext of drinking water or tying her shoelaces, signalling Chaudhary that it was the right moment to push Agarwal off the cliff.

Investigators believe the signal also ensured Goyal remained at a safe distance so Agarwal could not grab her while falling. Police sources further said Call Detail Records (CDRs) show that Goyal spoke to Chaudhary around 34 minutes before the incident, which investigators suspect was the final confirmation before the alleged murder.

Earlier attempt and driver’s statement under probe

Police believe the conspiracy was finalised by the end of May and allege that an earlier attempt to kill Agarwal was made on June 14. During that incident, Agarwal reportedly survived after grabbing onto nearby bushes. Investigators claim Goyal later described the incident as an accident caused by a snake scare.

Meanwhile, the statement of driver Vaibhav Jadhav has also become part of the investigation. He told police that Goyal appeared unwilling to travel for the planned pre-wedding Bali trip and allegedly argued with her brother during the journey. The trip was later cancelled after Agarwal reportedly discovered that his passport was missing at Mumbai airport.
