A tragic incident occurred at the Kannauj Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday afternoon, when part of ceiling slab at the station collapsed, trapping several workers.

The incident reportedly occurred at 2.39 pm on Saturday.

There were 30 workers present at the site, as per reports, six injured workers have been rescued so far and rushed to the hospital.

The District Magistrate, Shubhrant Shukl, said that according to preliminary information, the incident occurred when the shuttering of the roof, which was under construction, collapsed. Shukl further mentioned that the priority is to rescue the workers who are trapped.

Currently, the District Magistrate is overseeing the rescue operation at the site. The Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police are also present at the location.

Many have alleged government corruption, claiming that the construction was carried out using substandard materials, risking the lives of the public.
