Nagpur psychologist sexually exploits over 50 women under the guise of mental health counselling
A 45-year-old psychologist in Nagpur was arrested for allegedly blackmailing and sexually exploiting over 50 students, under the pretext of counselling for the past 15 years.
The psychologist who ran a clinic and residential programme in Nagpur has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, as per reports.
The accused is alleged to have targeted students, particularly girls, by offering promises of personal and professional development, as per reports.
He reportedly organised trips and camps during which he sexually abused the victims, took explicit photographs, and subsequently used these images for blackmail.
The case came to light when a former student, who was being blackmailed by the psychologist, filed a complaint with the police.
Many victims are said to be married. The police have launched an investigation in the case forming a special committee to assist victims.
