Man dies during hot air balloon trial run in Rajasthan’s Baran

A tragic accident occurred on Thursday morning in Rajasthan’s Baran district, where a trial run of a hot air balloon ended in the death of an employee of a private firm. The incident took place as part of preparations for the district’s foundation day celebrations.
The victim, identified as Vasudev Khatri, a resident of Kota, was reportedly holding one of the ropes attached to the balloon when it unexpectedly began to ascend. As the balloon gained height, Khatri was dragged into the air along with the rope. When the balloon reached an altitude of around 60 feet, the rope snapped, causing him to fall.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The hot air balloon was reportedly operated by a private company that had earlier worked with the district administration. Following the incident, all events scheduled for the three-day foundation day celebrations, which started on Tuesday, have been cancelled.
This incident follows a similar mishap that occurred earlier this year. On February 3, during the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, a grand religious gathering held once every 112 years and attended by millions of devotees, a helium balloon explosion injured six people. The explosion happened near Sector 20 Akhada, where the balloon burst during a ride. All the injured were rushed to Nehru Hospital, and one devotee was reported to be in critical condition.
