Maharashtra TET Paper Leak: Mastermind Arrested in Bihar; 13 Accused Held So Far

The Bhiwandi police have arrested the alleged mastermind of the Maharashtra TET paper leak case, Bijendra Kumar Gupta, from Bihar, marking a major breakthrough in the investigation.

According to the police, Gupta and his associate Sonu allegedly obtained the leaked examination paper by bribing employees of the printing press with money and property. The paper was reportedly concealed inside a shoe and taken out of the printing press.

Paper bought for ₹8,000, planned to be sold for ₹1.5 crore

Investigators said the accused had allegedly planned to obtain the paper for around ₹8,000 and sell it for nearly ₹1.5 crore to candidates in Bhiwandi and Pune.

However, the Bhiwandi police reportedly foiled the plan by posing as prospective buyers. A total of 13 accused have now been arrested in connection with the case.

Wanted accused Kapil Dahiya arrested from Punjab

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Maharashtra TET paper leak has also arrested three more accused, including wanted accused Kapil Dahiya.

A Lookout Circular (LOC) had been issued against Dahiya, who was arrested from Pathankot in Punjab. He is allegedly accused of finding buyers for the leaked papers in the Kongaon area of Bhiwandi.

The police also arrested Sonu Singh from Hajipur in Bihar and Mithun Singh from Patna for allegedly helping Bijendra Gupta escape.

According to the investigation, Sonu allegedly used his photocopy shop to print fake identity cards and copies of the leaked papers. Mithun Singh, who is Gupta's brother-in-law, allegedly helped in finding buyers for the leaked examination papers.

Police posed as fake buyers to expose the racket

The alleged paper leak racket was exposed during a secret operation led by Bhiwandi DCP Pawan Bansode.

As part of the operation, a police inspector allegedly approached the accused while posing as a prospective buyer. After the accused believed that they had found a genuine customer, Bijendra Gupta allegedly sent four sets of the leaked papers to Rajiv Kumar and Akash Kumar.

The police then reportedly laid a trap at a hotel in the Konagaon area and arrested the accused.

Mastermind allegedly has criminal history in multiple states

During interrogation, the police reportedly found that Bijendra Gupta had previously been arrested in several states in connection with cases related to paper leaks and murder.

Investigators said he was released on bail in the earlier cases and allegedly became active in other states under new identities.

The police investigation into the Maharashtra TET paper leak case is continuing. All the accused arrested so far are currently in police custody, according to the available information.
