Government Initiates Talk with CJP as Group Marches Towards Parliament; Dipke Detained

The Union Government has initiated talks with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) as the group marched towards Parliament on the opening day of the Monsoon Session on Monday.

According to CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das, senior party representatives met Union Minister JP Nadda at his residence after waiting for more than two hours.

In a post on X, Das said, "After waiting for more than two hours, Ashutosh Ranka and I met JP Nadda ji at his residence for 10 minutes. We submitted a written letter with our demands, and he assured us that he would discuss the matter internally. The process is underway. There are also reports of mass detentions."

CJP rejects lower-level talks

Sources said DCP New Delhi Sachin Sharma has been holding discussions with the CJP team on behalf of the Centre.

Initially, the government reportedly offered talks with the District Magistrate, followed by a Union Government Secretary and later a Minister of State. However, the CJP declined the proposals, insisting that discussions should take place either with the Prime Minister or a Cabinet Minister.

Sources added that the organisation submitted a list of ministers it was willing to meet through the DCP.

Leader detained as protest continues

Das said the group's demands remained unchanged and claimed that a large number of young people had joined the protest.

Shortly after the announcement of talks, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke was detained by police from Jantar Mantar, according to Das.

In another post on X, Das appealed to Members of Parliament to support the protesting students and alleged that police were carrying out a crackdown on demonstrators. He further claimed that peaceful protesters were being assaulted during the operation.

Authorities had not immediately responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
