Fire at Bihar Hotel kills at least six, rescue operations underway
A huge fire broke out in the Pal Hotel and its nearby buildings on Frazer Road in Bihar’s Patna today, taking away at least six lives so far. The fire also resulted in the closure of the road and spread to the other buildings.
The Kotwali police station staff, along with 20-25 fire brigade vehicles were the first responders on the site.
The rescue personnel on site rescued 25-30 people from the building, and some of them were reportedly injured. The injured were taken to the hospital nearby, where one woman’s condition is believed to be critical.
Patna Medical College principal doctor Vidyapati Chaudhary said that so far 18 patients have been admitted to the hospital, out of which six have died. While 12 are undergoing treatment in the ICU.
Fire Brigade Division DIG Mrityunjay Chaudhary said that 25 to 30 people have been evacuated so far. A rescue operation is going on now. More than a dozen cars have also been burnt under the hotel in this fierce fire. Six more ambulances have been called to the scene.
