Luxury car overturns after hitting divider on Mumbai-Vadodara Highway, two dead

Two people were reportedly killed and another sustained serious injuries after a BMW crashed into a road divider and overturned multiple times on the Mumbai-Vadodara Highway in Maharashtra’s Thane district early Sunday morning.

According to reports, the accident took place around 4 am near Badlapur while the luxury vehicle was returning from Titwala. The deceased have been identified as Yogesh Dighe (26) and Rikeba Jacob (24), both residents of Badlapur.

Another occupant, identified as Anand, was seriously injured in the crash and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thane.

Preliminary findings suggest the car was allegedly travelling at high speed when it struck the divider, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle reportedly flipped several times before coming to a stop, leaving it extensively damaged.

According to reports, local residents and motorists who heard the impact rushed to the scene and alerted emergency services. The bodies of the deceased were later sent for post-mortem examination at a government hospital.

Police have registered an accidental death case and initiated an investigation. A forensic team also visited the accident site and collected evidence. Officials are reportedly examining all possible factors, including whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
