Gujarat Pilgrims' Return Journey Ends in Tragedy as Four Killed in Nashik Crash

Four people, including a woman from Silvassa and a man from Sarigam, were killed after the car they were travelling in was crushed between two container trucks at Sawal Ghat in Maharashtra’s Nashik district on Tuesday. A fifth occupant sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

The group was returning from the Saptashrungi Temple when the accident took place.

Brake Failure Triggers Crash

According to police, the Eco car was hit from behind by a container truck after it reportedly suffered a brake failure while passing through Sawal Ghat under the Peth Police Station limits.

The impact pushed the car into the path of another container coming from the opposite direction, trapping the vehicle between the two heavy trucks and causing extensive damage.

Pilgrimage Ends In Tragedy

The victims had travelled to Nashik from Silvassa and Kaprada for a visit to the Saptashrungi Temple.

After offering prayers, they were returning home when the accident occurred. Local residents rushed to the spot and, along with police, helped pull all five occupants out of the mangled vehicle.

Four Lives Lost

Three of the occupants died at the scene, while another succumbed to injuries after being taken to hospital.

The deceased were identified as Ambu Chhaganbhai Valvi of Bondpada in Sarigam, Rajarjaya Dhakalbhai Tumda of Sayli in Silvassa, Kaushalyaben Rameshbhai Kakad of Dhodipada in Surangi, Silvassa, and Ramanbhai Dharmabhai Chimanya of Piproni in Kaprada.

The injured, Khalpadh Dediyabhai Bhurkhud of Silvassa, remains under treatment.

Police Begin Investigation

The Peth Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
