Two, including Congress leader, arrested in Kutch for running bogus clinic

A bogus doctor was caught red-handed at Syed Clinic in Zhura village for practicing allopathy without a valid medical degree. A team led by West Kutch Local Crime Branch (LCB) Inspector S N Chudasama and PSI D B Rabari arrested the accused Habibsha Abdulrasul Shah.
Syed’s cousin, Habibsha Abdulrasul Shah Syed, president of the Kutch District Congress Health and Hospital Committee, was also involved in the illegal operation. He was running a medical store without a valid license, using a fake certificate in the name of Bharatbhai Ramanbhai Patel.
Initial police investigations revealed that both brothers, who owned the Syed Clinic hospital and medical store, had only studied till 12th grade. The police seized medicines worth ₹3.5 lakh from the hospital.
The LCB, in collaboration with the District Health Officer and Taluka Health Officer, arrested both accused and registered a case against them under sections 125 of the IPC, 2023, and section 33 of the Medical Practitioner Act at Madhapar police station.
The raid conducted at the clinic uncovered allopathic medicines, injections, and syrup stored in glass and wooden cabinets. A notebook containing patient details was also seized. Hasamsha Syed confessed to practicing medicine without a degree for the past five years.
The LCB is investigating the matter further.
A similar incident was also brought to light recently in Surat, Gujarat, where 16 individuals were arrested for practicing medicine without valid MBBS degrees.
