Israel launched a series of coordinated airstrikes on a key leadership compound in Tehran, targeting what it described as the Iranian regime’s most critical command hub, according to a statement by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

As per reports, the Israeli military said the overnight operation was carried out by the Israeli Air Force based on “precise intelligence”.

Multiple munitions were reportedly dropped on the Presidential Office and the building housing Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. The IDF stated that facilities used for high-level security meetings, as well as an institution responsible for training senior Iranian military officers, were among the targets.

Additionally, describing the compound as one of the most heavily guarded complexes in the country, the IDF said it spans several streets in central Tehran and regularly hosts top political and security leaders for discussions on Iran’s nuclear programme and strategic policy toward Israel. The military claimed the strike would significantly disrupt Iran’s command and control capabilities.

The escalation follows the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, who was said to have died on Saturday during what Israel and the United States described as pre-emptive strikes on Iranian targets.

In response, Iran has intensified retaliatory actions against Israeli and American interests across the region. On Tuesday, a drone strike targeted the United States Embassy in Riyadh, causing a fire and minor damage, according to Saudi authorities. The United States Embassy in Kuwait was also reportedly struck and has been temporarily closed.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that US President Donald Trump signalled that American military operations could continue for an extended period. “From the beginning, we projected four to five weeks, but we have the capability to continue far beyond that,”he said as per reports, indicating readiness for a sustained campaign.
