Elon Musk slams Zelensky’s 2022 Vogue photoshoot amid war, X users divided

Elon Musk stirred a controversy by bringing up an old photo of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and his wife from their Vogue photoshoot. Musk commented on the image, criticising Zelensky for participating in the shoot while soldiers and children were ‘dying’ on the battlefield.
Taking to his X account on Thursday, Musk posted a picture from the Vogue article featuring Zelensky and his wife. He captioned it: “He did this while kids are dying in trenches on the war front.”
Many users supported Musk’s stance, where one commented that : “Leaders should lead by example, not by photo ops. While soldiers fight and civilians suffer, posing for Vogue sends the worst possible message. Priorities matter.”
Another user added: “Elon, you’re absolutely right. It's outrageous that our leaders prioritize their own interests over the lives of innocent children caught in conflict. We need accountability and an end to these senseless wars. It's time for a new era of leadership that values humanity.”
However, some users defended Zelensky, argued that the “Vogue photoshoot was a strategic move to raise global awareness about Ukraine’s struggles.” Other users claimed that many middle-class readers follow Vogue, and the photos were meant to increase public consciousness about the war.
Additionally, one user referenced Grok 3, an AI model, asking if children were truly dying in Ukraine’s trenches. The AI responded by stating that while there are tensions in Ukraine, there is no clear, verified documentation to support the specific claim of “kids dying in trenches.”
The debate continues, with opinions sharply divided on whether Zelensky’s actions were justified or a sign of misplaced priorities during a time of war.
