Another round of anti Trump protests hit several US cities

In yet another round of anti-Trump protests, thousands of protesters rallied on Saturday in New York, Washington and other cities across the United States.

People were seen outside the White House with banners that read ‘No kings dictator no Trump’ and ‘Cruel or stupid Oh! Wait! It’s both’.

Known as ‘50501’, for ‘50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement’, the demonstrations were intended to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the start of the American Revolutionary War, as per BBC.

In Washington, DC, protesters voiced concern that Trump was threatening long-respected constitutional norms, including the right to due process.

Notably, the ‘Hands Off’ demonstrations in early April drew tens of thousands in cities across the country.

As per reports, the rallies were protesting against several schemes of the current Trump administration, including deportations, support for Israel in the war with Gaza, federal firings and shutting of key federal departments, and anti-LGBTQ laws among other things.

“We are in great danger,” said 73-year-old New York protester Kathy Valy, the daughter of Holocaust survivors, adding that their stories of how Nazi leader Adolf Hitler rose to power “are what’s happening here,” as per media reports.
