Why Dr Vaishali Joshi committed suicide in Ahmedabad crime branch premises?

In an incident that shook the city to its core, 32-year-old Dr Vaishali Joshi committed suicide and died on the premises of Jamalpur’s Gaikwad Haveli police station, Ahmedabad crime branch on Mar 6.
The case took a sensitive turn as it was revealed that the reason behind Joshi’s constant visit to the crime branch premises was the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) police inspector (PI) BK Khachar.
Dr Vaishali’s suicide note: Relationship trauma
As the case unfolded, a suicide note revealed the reason behind her death.
PI Khachar and Dr Joshi were reportedly in a relationship for five years, but due to some disputes, Khachar had incessantly ignored her. For the last five days, she was visiting the crime branch premises to meet Khachar. However, Khachar refused to meet her.
Depressed by the relationship issues, Dr Joshi self-administered an injection on the leg while sitting on a bench in the crime branch premises and committed suicide.
“I have been played emotionally. PI BK Khachar is responsible for the steps I am taking. My last wish is that PI BK Khachar should perform my last rites after my death”
Assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Hitendra Chaudhary said, “Following this incident, PI Khachar has been absconding. Dr Joshi’s dead body has been handed over to her family members. An investigation will be initiated against PI Khachar if her family members file any complaints in the coming days. However, a search has already been initiated for PI Khachar.”
Who is Dr Vaishali Joshi?
In 2021, Dr Joshi lost her father. Joshi lived in a PG in Shivranjani area in Ahmedabad. She is survived by her widowed mother and two sisters, one of whom settled in Canada while the other lives in Vadodara. Her mother, Leela Joshi, lives in Debhari, Kheda.
