Vav bypoll: October 25 last date to file nomination
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has begun preparations for the by election to the Vav assembly seat of Banaskantha district. No nomination paper was filed on the first day of nomination, with the last date fixed on October 25.
It has been informed by the office of the state election officer that the candidates have to submit the affidavit form-26 along with their nomination papers. Nomination papers can be submitted to the District Election Officer by 3 pm on the last date.
The notification for the by election of Vav Assembly Constituency has been published on Friday. No nomination papers were presented on the first day.
The affidavit submitted by the candidates will be uploaded on the website of the office of the chief returning officer within 24 hours.
The Vav bypoll will be held on November 13, with the results to be announced on November 23.
The seat was left vacant after former MLA Geni Thakor brought Congress its sole win during the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
In the Legislative Assembly election of 2022, Thakor defeated BJP’s Swarup Thakor with over 15,000 votes.
Before that, in the Assembly election of 2017, BJP’s Shankar Chaudhary was defeated in the fortress of Thakor.
