Unseasonal rains, thunderstrikes hit parts of Gujarat

Gujarat experienced unusual weather on Tuesday. While many cities are still facing strong summer heat under ‘yellow alert’, some districts in North and East Gujarat received unexpected rain with thunderstorms early in the morning.
Districts like Aravalli, Mahisagar, and Dahod saw this unseasonal rainfall. In Aravalli, areas such as Modasa, Malpur, Meghraj, and Shamlaji experienced heavy rain along with strong winds. In Mahisagar, places like Kadana and Khanpur also received showers as part of pre-monsoon activity. In Dahod, after many dry days, dark clouds covered the sky and rain led to waterlogging on roads in some areas.
This sudden rain has given some relief from the heat, making the weather cooler. However, it has also increased worry for farmers. Crops like maize, millet, and animal fodder may get damaged due to this unexpected rain during the summer season.
At the same time, major cities are still facing heatwave conditions. A yellow alert has been issued in Ahmedabad for the next six days, where temperatures may go up to 41°C. Cities like Gandhinagar and Rajkot may also see temperatures crossing 40°C. Coastal areas such as Surat and Dwarka will have slightly lower temperatures between 31°C and 34°C.
According to the weather department, most parts of Gujarat will stay dry in the coming days, but heat and humidity are likely to continue because of changing weather conditions.
