Unsafe water, diseases grapple areas of Ahmedabad

Areas of Ahmedabad grapple with undrinkable water woes as 1,000 water samples were declared unfit for drinking.
To the citizens’ plight, the unfit water has resulted in an outpour of water-borne diseases in areas including Lambha, Isanpur, Amraiwadi, and Ramol-Hathijan wards.
Samples of water from a total of 38,917 residential areas have been tested in Ahmedabad. Out of these, a total of 1,023 samples have been recorded without any chlorine content.
A total of 10,138 water samples were taken for bacteriological tests. Out of which, a total of 157 water samples were declared unfit.
The corporator of Shahpur ward has made a representation in the board meeting of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) that people living in colonies such as Ahmed Hussain ni chali, Labhshankar ni chali, Jahangir ni chali near Dudheshwar water works are getting polluted water.
The corporator from the Shahpur ward has demanded that immediate action be taken to improve the quality of drinking water in these areas.
Which area’s water recorded unfit?
The highest water samples were recorded in the Vatva area of Ahmedabad at 94.
