Thief sprays CCTV, steals ₹44 lakh from SBI ATM in Vyara

A thief in Gujarat’s Vyara cut open two Automated teller machine (ATM) of the State Bank of India (SBI) and stole ₹44,01,400 after spraying the CCTV cameras with paint to avoid detention.
Located on Kanpura Main Road beneath the Govind Krupa house, the SBI ATM contained two machines from Hitachi. On Wednesday, both machines were loaded with a total of ₹44,01,400.
Around 3 am on Wednesday, the thief arrived at the ATM and broke into the machines using a gas cutter. As soon as he entered the ATM booth he had sprayed paint to cover up the CCTV. There was no security guard present at the site.
After the thief left, the gas cutter caused a fire, and the firefighters were called to control the situation..
Police also arrived shortly after and reviewed the CCTV footage, which revealed an individual with a white dupatta covering his face spraying the camera.
Following the incident, police informed Kirti Gamit, an executive from Hitachi Payment Pvt Ltd, and took a formal complaint. An investigation has been initiated against the unknown individual.
