Surat railway cop saves passenger from falling under moving train
In a commendable display of vigilance and quick response, the Surat Railway Police prevented a tragic accident at Surat Railway Station, saving a passenger from potential fatality while boarding a moving train.
On February 12, police constable Gulabsinh Bamniya was on night duty at Platform No. 1 of Surat Railway Station, covering the shift from 8 pm to 8 am the next day. During this period, Train No. 22943, Indore-Daund Express, arrived at the platform. Around 10.45 pm, as the train was departing, a passenger attempted to board but lost balance and fell onto the platform, dangerously close to the gap between the train and the platform.
Recognising the imminent danger, constable Bamniya acted swiftly, pulling the passenger to safety before a disaster could occur. The passenger, visibly shaken by the incident, was comforted and reassured by the officers on duty.
Thanks to the prompt action of the Surat Railway Police, a potentially fatal accident was averted. The department’s proactive efforts in ensuring passenger safety at railway stations have been widely appreciated.
