Student misses exam after Diu-Mumbai flight cancelled for 12th time in 15 days

A student missed his examination due to the cancellation of the Diu-Mumbai flight on Monday.

Around 70 passengers awaiting their Mumbai-bound Alliance Air flight scheduled to depart around 4.30 pm were left in a limbo as the airline allegedly cancelled the flight at the last moment.

Passengers protested, and the local Alliance Air staff informed the head office. Meanwhile, some passengers left for Rajkot and other places to find alternative flights.

After a few hours, the airline informed some passengers that a flight was arranged for them. On returning to Diu airport, the passengers were again disappointed after the airline cancelled the flight again at 6.30 pm.

The airline staff announced that the flight could not take off due to sunset and insufficient lighting on the airport runway.

Amid this chaos, a student was left in anxiety as he had an exam scheduled on Tuesday morning in Mumbai.

Notably, in the tourist destination of Gujarat’s Diu, incoming and outgoing flights have been cancelled 12 times in the last fifteen days.

Tourists arriving from and across the world via Mumbai are unable to reach Diu and are forced to stay in hotels in Mumbai.  Similarly, tourists departing from Diu who intend to catch connecting flights to countries like the US are also stranded due to this chaos.
