Ahmedabad student dies by suicide in Narol after reportedly being distressed over Class 12 result

A 17-year-old student allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Ahmedabad’s Narol area after reportedly remaining under mental stress over her Class 12 examination result, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Kajal Pal, a Class 12 Arts student studying at Shakti Vidyalaya in the Rangoli Nagar area of Narol.

According to police, the incident took place at New Umang Flats in Gangotri Nagar, Narol, where Kajal allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan using a rope while at home. Family members later discovered her and alerted authorities.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the student had been distressed after receiving lower-than-expected marks in the Higher Secondary examination. Police said Kajal had scored 308 out of 700 in the Class 12 Arts stream and had reportedly been under continuous mental strain since the declaration of the results.

Officials said no foul play is suspected at this stage.

The Narol Police have registered a case of accidental death and initiated further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The tragedy has once again drawn attention to the intense academic pressure faced by students during examination season.
