Gujarat sees at least 35 stroke-related emergencies in a month
There has been surge in the number of stroke cases in Gujarat. On an average 35 cases of stroke-related emergencies are recorded in a month. Heart and breathing problems with paralysis-related emergency cases are also seeing a rise.
This year in just nine months, cases of paralysis (due to stroke) were 9,488. Compared to the past year, this year Gujarat saw a 6.79% rise.
Last year from January to September, 8,885 cases of stroke were reported. Whereas this year, in just nine months, 9,488 cases were registered.
This year, in September alone, 1,108 cases of stroke were registered in Gujarat.
In Ahmedabad, around 2,610 cases were registered from January to September. Whereas last year, 2,574 cases were registered. Ahmedabad saw a 0.62% rise in stroke cases compared to last year.
Doctors say that awareness for stroke-related emergency should be raised among people. Sedentary lifestyle, alcohol consumption, high blood pressure, and hypertension are the main reasons for a stroke attack.
