In the last few months, cases of heart emergencies have been increasing in Gujarat. According to reports of EMRI 108 emergency services, there has been a 20% increase in heart emergency cases from January to June 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

40,047 cases of heart-related diseases were recorded from January to June this year, compared to 33,936 cases during the same period in 2023. April saw the highest number of cases this year, with 7,175 cases.

In Ahmedabad, on average, 65 people become victims of heart disease daily. The U N Mehta Institute of Cardiology has handled a total of 14,756 cardiac procedures, including 263 angioplasty, 775 device placements, 622 pacemakers, 3,939 stentings, and various other treatments for 9,157 patients.

Civil heart hospital patients of the last five years

In 2022, 26,728 cases of heart diseases were recorded, rising to 29,510 in 2023. The current situation indicates a continuing increase in heart emergency cases over the past two years.
