SP in Gujarat; DM, SSP in other states transferred by ECI

The Election Commission of India (ECI) once again announced the order of transfer of non-cadre officers in a major action with Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in sight. This time the order of transfer of officers posted as District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) has been announced in Gujarat, Punjab, Odisha and West Bengal.

Notably, the posts of DM and SP in the district are for Indian Administrative and Indian Police Service officers respectively.

Transfers in Gujarat and other states

In Gujarat, SPs of Chhottudepur and Ahmedabad (Rural) districts were transferred. While in Punjab, the SSPs of Pathankot, Fazilka, Jalandhar Rural and Malerkotla districts have been transferred.

In Odisha, DM of Dekkanel and SP of Deogarh and Kattar (Rural) were transferred. The transfer orders of DMs of East Medinipur, Jhargram, East Bardhaman and Birbhum districts of West Bengal have been issued.

Besides, the Election Commission also replaced the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Bathinda in Punjab, SSP of Sonitpur in Assam, as their family ties with politicians were proved.
