Home secretaries of six states dismissed by ECI, including Gujarat

The Election Commission of India (ECI) today directed home secretaries of six states to be dismissed, including Gujarat, reported the media today.
Apart from Gujarat, Home Secretary in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand are set to be dismissed with Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in sight.
Several additional commissioners and deputy commissioners of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), along with its commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, were also dismissed, suggested the reports.
In Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh, the secretaries of the general administrative department (GAD) were also dismissed by the ECI, it added.
Moreover, the director general of police (DGP) of West Bengal will also be replaced, according to media reports.
On Mar 16, the ECI declared the schedules for the general elections in the country, with the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 beginning from Apr 19 in seven phases.
