Selfie attempt turns fatal as Vande Bharat train kills two in Rajkot

In Gujarat, two young men were killed and another seriously injured after being struck by a Vande Bharat train while attempting to take selfies near a railway track in Rajkot on Monday evening. The incident took place at a location known as Riddhi–Siddhi canal, as per police.
According to officials, the youths hailing from Uttar Pradesh were among a group of four friends living near the Nilkanth Industrial Area of Rajkot, where they were employed at a factory. One of them, 18-year-old Sandeep Suresh Kori, was due to return to his native village on Sunday, and the others had accompanied him on foot towards Gondal Chowkdi to see him off.
While passing the Riddhi–Siddhi canal area, the group noticed a Vande Bharat train approaching. Three of the four friends—Sandeep Suresh Kori, Sandeep Vidyaram Patel (20) and Kapil Patel (20)—reportedly stepped close to the railway track to take selfies. The fourth youth, Kuldeep alias Sandeep Maheshwar Prasad Kori (20), remained at a distance.
As the train approached at high speed, Kuldeep shouted at his friends, urging them to move away from the track. However, the three reportedly believed they could take the selfie and step aside in time. Moments later, they were struck by the train.
Sandeep Suresh Kori and Sandeep Vidyaram Patel died on the spot, while Kapil Patel sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the civil hospital for treatment.
Police from Aji Dam Police Station reached the scene and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.
