Salaya Municipality stands out as BJP loses, Congress and AAP share victory

Amid the BJP sweep in other municipalities, the Salaya Municipality with 28 seats saw Congress emerging as the winner.

Congress won 15 seats in the election, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made a strong showing by winning 13 seats. 

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) failed to open its account in Devbhumi Dwarka’s Salaya. The area of minister Mulubhai Bera, the BJP faced annihilation.

Notably, this is the only municipality where the BJP failed to win even a single seat.

After setbacks in Delhi, the magic of AAP was evident in Salaya. AAP won 13 seats, putting up a strong challenge to Congress, while Congress candidates won 15 seats. 

Historically, both BJP and Congress have ruled Salaya Municipality at different times. In the last term, Congress held power in Salaya Municipality. The people of Salaya have once again placed their trust in Congress. 

The results indicate that the people of Salaya may prefer Congress or other parties, but they do not want the BJP. 

Notably, 98 candidates, including those from BJP, Congress, AAP, and independents, contested for the 28 seats in 7 wards of Salaya.
