Saffron scandal! BJP to suspend Guj trio over ‘anti-party activities’?
All’s not well in the ruling party! The escalating infighting has now given rise to rumours that the high command is stepping in to suspend three leaders of the Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The three Gujarat netas in the BJP’s crosshairs are incumbent Amreli MP Naran Kachhadiya, and former ministers Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (alias Hakubha), and Jawahar Chavda. They’ve all been accused of “anti-party activities”.
However, those familiar with the issue say the BJP will come down on the three embattled leaders only if it wins all 25 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat when the votes are counted next month.
Kachhadiya, who did not receive a ticket this year, allegedly expressed his “disappointment” in the party’s choice of Bharat Sutariya as Amreli candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha election. According to the sitting MP, Sutariya lacks the ability to engage in conversation, deliver a speech, or participate in an interview.
So, by choosing him as candidate, Kachhadiya is said to have alleged that the party has let down “23 lakh Amreli residents, including 17.5 lakh voters, as well as party workers”.
Kachhadiya’s alleged anti-party activities also include helping Dilip Sanghani and Jayesh Radadiya defeat official BJP candidate Bipinbhai Patel (alias Bipin Gota), in the election for the post of IFFCO (Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative) director.
In Jamnagar, Hakubha is accused of working with Patidar candidate JP Maraviya against Poonam Maadam, the BJP candidate for the Jamnagar Lok Sabha seat. He also allegedly voted against the BJP.
Meanwhile in Junagadh district, Arvind Ladani has accused Chavda of urging factory workers not to vote for him in the bye-election to the Manavadar Assembly seat.
Complaining to state BJP chief CR Patil in a letter dated May 8, Ladani wrote, “Former cabinet minister Jawahar Chavda, along with his son and wife, addressed meetings in their factory in Manavadar. On May 4, 2024, they appealed to 700-800 workers to vote against me and Porbandar BJP LS candidate Manasukh Mandaviya.”
