Sabarmati Veraval Vande Bharat to ease travel to Somnath Rajkot from Ahmedabad

Pilgrims of Somnath Temple will now easily reach the holy city from Ahmedabad due to the launch of the Sabarmati-Veraval Vande Bharat train on May 26.

The semi-high-speed train will operate on all days of the week except for Thursday.

According to railway officials, the train will depart from Sabarmati at 5.25 am and reach Veraval by 12.25 pm. On the return journey, it will leave Veraval at 2.40 pm and arrive back at Sabarmati by 9.35 pm. Covering a distance of 438 kilometres, the journey is expected to take approximately seven hours in each direction.

The stations covered will be Chandlodiya, Viramgam, Surendragam, Wankaner, Rajkot, Bhaktinagar, and Junagadh.

The launch follows growing public demand for improved long-distance rail services on the Rajkot–Veraval route, especially after the completion of route electrification. A formal proposal for the Vande Bharat service was submitted to the Railway Board in 2022, and the project has now received official approval.

This new addition to the Vande Bharat fleet is expected to significantly benefit devotees travelling to Somnath, as well as promote tourism and regional connectivity.
