The rains have once again brought to the fore Amdavad Municipal Corporation's poor monsoon preparation. An underpass near D-Cabin, Chandkheda, was flooded for lack of proper drainage during a recent downpour.

The underpass constructed at a cost of ₹13 crore, posed difficulties for residents of Sabarmati, D-Cabin, Chandkheda, and Ranip.

According to reports, no sump was created below the underpass by AMC’s contractors to manage the flow of stormwater during monsoon.

With monsoon having arrived in Ahmedabad, civic personnel had to pump out the rainwater from the underpass, but confusion prevailed over where to discard it.

AMC's drainage department had to finally had to link the drainage with the drainage system of Kaligam underpass.

Notably, due to this repair work, the road of this underpass will lose 1 foot of height.
