AMC issues notice revokes builder permit after road caves in near Anupam Cinema
Cave-in near Anupam Cinema

A section of the road near Anupam Cinema in Ahmedabad’s Khokhra area collapsed due to soil erosion caused by rain and ongoing excavation work on Wednesday evening.

A basement was being constructed at the site owned by North Flex Business Pvt Ltd. At the time of the incident, one side of the road had to be closed to traffic.

The Amdavad Municipal Corporation issued a notice to the site owner, Leelamani Infrastructure, and revoked the construction permit.

In Ahmedabad East,  heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening led to soil erosion at a building site near the Bhagat Dhanadal unit, where basement construction was underway.

As the construction had just begun, the rainwater’s strong flow caused the soil to collapse. This erosion washed away one side of the nearby road, forcing its closure.

The estate department has issued notices to the owner, developer, and site engineer. The owner has been instructed to restore the road at their own expense, and repair work is reported to have begun.

Notably, Maninagar and Odhav received nearly four inches of rain on Wednesday evening, resulting in widespread waterlogging across Vatva, Chakudiya, Viratnagar, Nikol, Ramol, and Kathwada.

Ahmedabad recorded 36.53 mm of rainfall on Wednesday, taking the season’s total to 12.84 inches so far.
