Road repairs begin in rain-hit Gujarat

After the heavy rains hit Gujarat and damaged the roads, the Roads and Buildings Department has begun repairing work across the state.

According to multiple reports, the highways and overbridges built in the last two years in the state are severely damaged. Large potholes have developed, making it difficult for vehicles to move. Some internal roads have been completely closed due to large cracks.

In Morbi, metal patches are being applied to five important roads. In Surendranagar district, road repairs, resurfacing, and metal work are being carried out due to two days of heavy rain.

Out of 68 roads in Surendranagar, a total of 54 were repaired.

Bhavnagar also witnessed road repair works through cold mix jet patcher machinery to make the damaged roads motorable.

A total of 10 out of 20 rural roads were damaged due to road erosion and potholes in Arvalli. Repair work is underway on these roads. In Kutch, 25 state-level roads were damaged, and 8 roads remain closed due to water overtopping.

In Jamnagar, 49 roads have been severely damaged, and 13 roads remain closed. In Devbhumi Dwarka, after heavy rainfall and flooding, the district administration has completed patchwork and filling potholes on 29 out of 32 affected rural roads, while 3 roads remain closed.
